WAABA’S Personality

Waaba is a caring, nurturing and fairy-like creature. She is highly intuitive and sensitive, and radiates joy. Waaba always wants to keep the peace, so she’s a natural conflict resolver. She can often surprise people with her unusual and truly strange ideas.

Waaba is from the purple gas planet Wenn, where everyone can fly. Her home planet’s culture values magic and the power of the mind.

Waaba is very positive, but can also be forgetful and a daydreamer. She finds it difficult to cope with pressure.
Her main superpowers are flying, the ability to become invisible, telepathy and telekinesis.

Waaba’s motto: Everything will be fine as long as we’re all friendly!

5.1.1.VCVS.Still

As a start to this year 5 of the Fun Learning program, have the child study the story picture carefully and choose one part of the image that is most interesting. Ask the child to talk about the picture while they study it. Maybe one of the characters, or an object or a color inspires the child to make a drawing. Give the child the colored pencils and ask them to draw something from the image, or inspired by the image, on their own sheet of paper. Save the drawing for the next task!
5.1.9.VCVS.Still

Create a simple repeating rhythm and play it by clapping your hands and tapping the table. Start with a short passage and ask the child to follow your rhythm by clapping the same pattern. Then vary the tempo a bit and ask the child to follow your rhythm. Next, you can ask the child to create their own pattern based on the one you just made. Encourage the child to clap a rhythm and you can follow by clapping it.
5.1.11.VCVS.Still

Give your child a paper triangle you have cut out from colored paper. Ask the child to name the color of the paper and ask the child if they know what the shape is. Tell the child it is a triangle. Ask your child to draw a triangle with their finger on a plate of rice or flour. Discuss what makes a triangle (three sides and angles). Ask the child to think of things that are triangular. Ask them to find a triangle in the house or outdoors. If the child knows the shape already, use this activity to refine fine-motor skills and identification of shapes in the environment.

The assignments are part of a broader story and program. The adventures of the Kip Crew are divided into stories that each include 20 fun tasks. As you follow the story and complete the tasks, the child learns about math, music, sciences, language and communication, arts and crafts, and physical activity. The subject content is connected to practicing life skills – the Fun Learning experience supports development of important skills, not only acquisition of knowledge.
