Sort a set of toys or kitchen utensils according to some property and the child tries to guess according to which criteria the toys are classified. For example, plush toys, little cars, and dolls. Next, choose another classification criterion, e.g., color. Sort the toys into groups based on color, for example, red toys, yellow toys or blue toys. It’s up to the child to guess on what basis the toys are classified. Good classification criteria are, for example, size, color and material.
